Giraffe Manor is an exclusive boutique hotel, owned by The Safari Collection. Often referred to as one of the most instagramed properties in the world, Giraffe Manor is set on 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi. Giraffe Manor is one of the most iconic buildings in Nairobi.

It is located in Nairobi, a short 15- to 20-minute drive away.

OUR ROOM

LYNN SUPERIOR ROOM

Lynn’s room is named after a giraffe who was, for many years, the guardian of our herd of Rothschild’s giraffes. Born in 1996, she was blessed with five calves whilst here at the sanctuary. We loved her kind, solid and reliable nature. Lynn-the-giraffe, who sadly died in 2015, was named after Lynn Sherr, an award-winning news correspondent for the ABC news program 20/20. An avid admirer of giraffes, she has often stayed at the Manor. Sherr’s book, ’Tall Blondes’, illustrates her love and knowledge of the animals and, in our view, is the definitive work on giraffe.

The room of the same name is located on the ground floor of the main manor and, though one finds it hard to imagine now, it was once the original manor house kitchen. The space was cleverly converted into a beautiful 47 square-meter room in 2019 with a decadent en-suite bathroom including bathtub, shower and twin sinks. The bed can convert between a double or two singles and the room can be accessed via the old service staircase or from the ground level for guests who may have mobility issues. There is a small veranda with access to a larger, covered outdoor seating area where guests can enjoy feeding the giraffes who amble past.

Breakfast with the giraffes

To enjoy the breakfast experience with the giraffes, you must stay at the MAIN HOUSE. If you stay at the GARDEN MANOR ROOMS, you can also experience breakfast with the giraffes but in the garden.

In the Main House, there is for example the Betty Superior Room which is on the first floor of the house, and has a balcony. Which allows you to feed the giraffes directly from your room.

Ps. All rooms have pet food for giraffes.

The gardens are beautiful, where we can go for a walk or just enjoy our meal there.

THE VIEW

On the horizon, being surrounded by giraffes, without being in captivity, is to leave anyone speechless.

It is an experience that at least once in our lives, we should all experience. Giraffes are quite used to humans, and are not dangerous. We should be aware that they are interacting with us, because we are feeding them. So be careful to be focused on making beautiful pictures, and leave the giraffe waiting for more food. They have enormous strength, and when they catch our attention with a “little touch”, for them it is a small touch, for us it could be an injury. Therefore, always keep the giraffe in sight, and without waiting too long for your feed. And enjoy, it is a unique experience in life.
