Taiwan is a small island nation 180 km east of China, with modern cities, traditional Chinese temples, and impressive cultural diversity. The capital is Taipei (one of my favorite Asian cities)

How to move around the country?

It has a good public transport system, like the metro that runs throughout the capital Taipei.

What money to use?

Taiwan’s currency is called the Taiwanese New Dollar. However, in almost all trade, international credit cards are accepted.

My trip

Taipei

The city can even be quite cosmopolitan, as it is home to several technology companies and has one of the tallest buildings in the world, but still has the vibrancy of the night markets and the calm and peace that the countless temples and parks around bring.

The Chiang Kai-shek (CKS) Memorial Hall is a national monument erected in memory of Chiang Kai-shek, the former president of the Republic of China. In the same square, we can see the National Theater and the National Concert Hall, which were built in the traditional Chinese palace style and deserve attention, at least for the architecture.

Taipei101

To see what was once the largest building in the world, head to Taipei 101, which lost its position after the imposing Burj Khalifa was built in Dubai, but today is still on the list of the top 10. The tower has a pagoda shape with 8 segments, each containing 8 floors (again number 8) and the structure incorporates square and circular shapes to achieve a balance between yin and yang.

National Palace Museum

It has the largest collection of Chinese art and artifacts

Elephant mountain

Xiangshan, also known as Elephant Mountain or Mount Elephant, is a mountain in the Xinyi district, Taipei, Taiwan. Here after climbing several stairs for about 15 to 20 minutes, in a green and beautiful setting, you will finally reach the top. Where you will find the best view of the city. Go during sunset, where the colors are even more beautiful.
